Mike started his musical journey when he was 13. Sean McGeehan convinced him to learn bass and be the next Poison. He studied under Sterling Cooke and formed Speak Eazy with Sean and a couple friends. When Sean moved away, Mike joined his mentor, Sterling, on an instrumental project. They recorded one album and played around the Lehigh Valley. He also played with Rhythmic Jones, the areas best Greatful Dead cover band for years. After many variations of that project, Mike took a break to coach baseball and raise his family. Mike joined Sons of Izzy in 2018 when a mutual friend suggested Steve and Mike should be in a band together. The rest is history. In his free time, Mike enjoys bubble baths, country music, and planning his retirement in Key West.
Scott is a veteran of the Lehigh V.alley music scene, having played the area since the late 80's. By the mid nineties, he found himself in a band called Nobody's Mother, along with Ed Bartik. Nobody's Mother performed locally and regionally, headlining shows, as well as opening for some National acts along the way. By 2000, Nobody's Mother was winding down, and Scott began working on some original music, along with another writer. This nucleus was the basis for an all original act called Blue Eyed Son. BES played around the valley making a name for themselves, as well as showcasing in N.Y.C, and Philadelphia. They recorded a 7 song demo CD entitled, "Goodnight August". After parting ways with BES, Scott wanted a break. After about 5 yrs of inactivity, he reached out to his old friend Ed Bartik, and suggested doing an acoustic duo. Bartik immediately agreed and Soulshine was born! Soulshine gigged constantly from 2007 until 2017. During this time (2014) Sons of Izzy was formed and Bartik & Scott continued doing both gigs for a few years. Here they are in 2023, back together again!
